Quarter Three
We learned during the 4th quarter, something very important, Algebra. Algebra, in my opinion, is all your skills put together into one key element of math. Algebra at first was very complicated, but at the same time, was fun to do because of how the problem was written. Like for example, in Chapter 7 lesson 4 it shows this example of an algebraic expression: -4=2/3x, now just by looking at that problem I see many equations put into one problem such as canceling out the 2/3 to make x equal -4, and so on.
As you start on Algebra, (and I have said this before), it looks at first pretty complicated as you go, and it get more and more complicated if you do not look over and know your basic pre-algebra math skills very well. And if you do not remember or know your pre-algebra math, then you will be completely confused about everything in Algebra.
I think the hardest lessons that we took in Algebra so far are Chapter 7 section 7 (Functions and Equations) and Chapter 7 section 8 (Graphing Functions).
Chapter 7 section 7 (Functions and Equations) is about putting a input (which is usually -2, -1, 0, 1, and 2) and the number that you get by using you equation is called your output. The equation is called the Function which is the process of taking the x variable and having it into a problem such as, y=5x so you would take you inputs of x and multiply it by 5 and you should the numbers that they have given you for your outputs.
And then finally, you put your answers on a table as x and y (and show all your work of course). This lesson in particular was very hard for me because (most of the time) you had to figure out the equation, and then graph your functions according to x and y.
Chapter 7 Lesson 8 is about graphing your x and y on a coordinate plane. This lesson was not that complicated, but it was added more weight unto chapter 7 section 7.
